Margaret Barry

Marg currently shares her 20+ years experience in the Reinsurance industry by performing operational risk management engagements as a Senior Consultant for LOGiQ3. Prior to consulting with LOGiQ3, Marg held the position of Director of Reinsurance Client Services for a large Canadian Insurance Company, where she was responsible for the daily operation of the Assumed, Retro-ceded and Direct Ceded Administration areas, Data Management, Audit Services and Statistical Reporting. Marg led the creation and implementation of risk management processes and provided critical business expertise in the development of a reinsurance treaty, administration and claim system. Marg has experience with the TAI, Quasar R2 and R+ reinsurance systems.

Prior to joining the Reinsurance sector, Marg held a variety of positions in Insurance Finance areas, including Statutory reporting, Financial reporting, Budgeting, Costing and Treasury, while studying in the Certified General Accountant (CGA) program.

Marg has earned the designations of Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI), Associate in Reinsurance Administration (ARA) and Associate in Customer Service (ACS). Marg actively volunteers with the Life Office Management Association (LOMA) and was instrumental in developing the first committee organized solely for Reinsurance Administration professionals (RAPA) of which she was the first chairperson and subsequently held a variety of leadership roles. In addition, Marg provided LOMA with business expertise for the development of two reinsurance courses, participated in authoring their first two Reinsurance Administration texts and continues to sit on the LOMA Exam Review Panel for Principles of Reinsurance.

CSP Group Inc

Stephen Pickell is the founder of CSP Group. He is a business and information consulting engineer providing customers technical solutions on advanced information systems, project management, strategic planning and business process reengineering.

In 2003, he engineered and developed a process management solution, integrating process documentation through a data repository to be shared with industry leading business modeling tools.

Prior to partnering with LOGiQ3, Stephen launched blue ice, inc. and CSP Group, Inc., both Process Management and Reengineering software and service organizations providing solutions to customers like Transamerica, Sprint, Universal Underwriters and numerous manufacturing organizations.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Computer Science from Central Missouri State University in 1985.

Hawkins Consulting

Michael is the founder and President of Hawkins Consulting Corporation. At Hawkins Consulting, Michael enjoys serving clients in Canada, the United States and the Caribbean. Before founding Hawkins Consulting, Michael worked as a consultant to the insurance industry at a large international consulting group. With his extensive experience in the financial services industry, Michael has developed knowledge and experience across multiple disciplines. Michael has expertise in insurance, investments, corporate finance and securitization.

Through his work as a consultant and his prior position with a multi-national insurance company, Michael has developed strong skills in project management, negotiation and financial modelling. His responsibilities in these positions included developing new insurance products, managing the product implementation process, pricing life, health and annuity products, insurance product portfolio reviews, merger and acquisition valuations, financial reporting and developing models to assess corporate solvency.

By profession, Michael is an actuary and is enrolled as a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (F.S.A.) and holds the designation of Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (F.C.I.A.). By training, Michael is a mathematician. A graduate of the University of Waterloo, Michael was granted a Bachelor of Mathematics degree in Honours Actuarial Science (BMath). Michael graduated With Distinction, Dean's Honour List.

Michael's business interests lie in leveraging his expertise, experience and training to design and implement solutions that meet the needs of financial institutions, businesses and individuals.

Amanda Jones

Amanda has 17 years experience in the reinsurance market, most recently as Senior Consultant with LOGiQ3 where she is engaged in providing operational risk management audits for a variety of North American Insurance Companies. Previously Amanda held the position of Client Services Director for a large Canadian Insurance Company where she had primary responsibility for the Administration and Operation of Direct Ceded, Assumed, Retro-ceded and Treaty functions. Also in this role, she directed the development and implementation of new reinsurance administration systems, including process management and functional compatibility. Additional experiences include development and implementation of internal and external audit programs (Canada and US) and client consulting with a particular focus on data management, operational compatibilities and compliance issues.

Prior to working in the Life sector Amanda spent several years in a management role in the Property and Casualty sector.

Amanda was a key member of the founding group of the Reinsurance Administration Professional Association (RAPA) and a sponsor of the education initiative with LOMA, resulting in the development of the Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA) designation.

Don Scott

Don graduated magna cum laude from the University of Hartford in 1967 receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He continued his education at the University of Connecticut earning 32 credits in the MBA program.

His career spans 36 years in the life insurance and reinsurance fields. He began his career at Phoenix Mutual in 1968. He held a variety of technical and managerial positions at Phoenix through 1999. His prior positions provided background in life insurance administration, group insurance and pension plan administration. He has been in the reinsurance field since 1985, holding managerial and technical positions responsible for administration, claims, treaties, audits and individual cession billing. His last position with Phoenix was AVP, Claims & Audits. In 1999, he joined ERC as AVP, Claims & Audits as the result of an acquisition of Phoenix's reinsurance business. He began a consulting services business providing claim and audit services to reinsurers and direct writers in February 2003.

He has earned the FLMI, ALHC, HIA and ACS professional designations between 1985 and 1998. He was a member of the Reinsurance Committee of the International Claim Association from 1989 to 1998. This position included being a presenter for workshops held at the ICA Annual meeting and the Eastern Claim Conference. He was a contributing author to a reinsurance education reference provided to ICA members. He was also a member of the Board of Directors and the Education and Workshop Chairman for the New England Claim Association from 1995 to 1997.

Mary Gressley

Mary Gressley has spent the past twenty-nine years in the life reinsurance industry with fifteen years of reinsurance treaty experience. Mary has served in this capacity for two of the top domestic life reinsurers. Mary has acquired in-depth knowledge of reinsurance treaties, as well as unmatched understanding of reinsurance administration. Mary has held various positions ranging from auditor/trainer to senior contract analyst.

Most recently at ING Re, Mary was responsible for all of the life reinsurance contractual documentation for two geographic regions in addition to being responsible for all of ING Re's retrocession pool treaties that were renewed annually. Mary was instrumental in completing documentation clean-up efforts for ING Re's multi-million dollar accounts in these two regions, while at the same time completing the documentation needs for another fifty active clients. Mary's knowledge allows her to evaluate and negotiate contract provisions for those reinsurance treaties that were prepared by her clients.

During Mary's tenure at Lincoln Re, Mary was selected to create a contract specialist position to satisfy a need in Lincoln Re's actuarial pricing department, including the establishment of new procedures, workflow, and the job description for the newly created position. Mary's attention to detail, allowed her to research and summarize contractual idiosyncrasies for a key Lincoln Re account, which facilitated the development and information gathering required for contractual-data input for a newly developed administrative system.

Gary Wilson

Prior to working with LOGiQ3 Gary was the Vice President of Operations at ManuLife Reinsurance. While at ManuLife Gary was responsible for the Operations functions (Assumed and Retroceded Administration, Audit, Treaty, Claims) and IT services across all product lines. As a member of the Senior Management team Gary also participated in the operational and financial analysis of the overall business unit.

Prior to joining ManuLife Gary spent in excess of 20 years in the Canadian banking community. Gary held senior management positions in Data Centers, MIS, IT, Trust and RRSP, and Retail Banking Operations.

Gary is an innovator with a track record of successfully integrating people and technology for productivity improvements. He is experienced in Customer Service, MIS, Operations and Finance, with a bottom line orientation. Gary has a reputation for superior project management, leadership and negotiation skills with a focus on quality service and training.

In his role as Managing Consultant to LOGiQ3 Gary participates in consulting and risk management engagements which are strategic in nature and often focus on specific financial events.

George Brennan

An experienced professional, highly skilled in risk classification techniques with extensive underwriting experience. After a long-standing career with Manulife Financial with extensive experience in underwriting life insurance in the Canadian marketplace, entered the consulting field and has provided advice and support to a number of top Insurers in the U.S. and Canada.
