Ross Morton
Ross Morton has spent 37 years in the life reinsurance world and throughout that time has played a very visible role in the life insurance industry in Canada and the world. Ross has made the transition from executive of major international companies to independent advisor very easily. His services, best described as mentor, advisor and reassurer, are now available globally to companies, governments or individuals wanting assistance with a variety of specific tasks from the life broker producer to the most senior of executives in insurers. Ross retains strong ties to RGA in its global risk management.
Ross was recently awarded the LOMA Education Award at the 2005 LOMA conference in Orlando, Florida. He is only the 22nd winner of the award that "was created more than 20 years ago and recognizes outstanding contributions to LOMA's professional education programs. It is the highest honor LOMA can bestow on an individual in the insurance and financial services industry."
Carmela Tedesco
Carmela has over 20 years experience in the insurance industry at both the reinsurance and direct insurance level for both the North American and European Markets.
Prior to starting her own underwriting consulting company, Carmela served as Chief Underwriter for the European Markets for a major international Reinsurer where she was responsible for establishing underwriting standards, researching market trends, mortality risk assessment, workflow process review and implementation, auditing and was instrumental in product and market development for Life, Critical Illness and Group products.
Carmela previously held the position of Manager of Underwriting and New Business for the second largest life insurer in Canada. In her leadership role, Carmela was responsible for the development, implementation and review of workflow processes, productivity, quality control through internal and reinsurance audits, staff development, training programs, reinsurance negotiations, establishing and monitoring service standards and cost control. One of her major accomplishments included developing and implementing an efficient underwriting process meeting all published service standards.
In addition, Carmela served as Past President and Program Chair of the Underwriting Association of Toronto (UAT) and was instrumental in developing and establishing a similar underwriting association in Italy.
Carmela is fluent in Italian and French with a good working knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese.
Petra Baiden
Petra Baiden has been active in the insurance industry for 20 years and has achieved her FALU, FLMI and ACS designations. Currently she is serving as an executive for the Underwriting Association of Toronto.
Most recently she established her own underwriting consulting business and prior to that served as the Chief Underwriter for a major reinsurer in the International insurance arena. Her role included product and market development, application design, establishment of Underwriting guidelines, audits and underwriting.
Prior to assuming her role as Chief Underwriter, she worked with direct insurers in different capacities, specifically underwriting, implementation of the tele-underwriting process and preferred product line as well as mentoring and training of less experienced underwriters.
Throughout her career she has created exceptional partnerships with brokers and captive agents alike, which has earned her numerous awards for outstanding customer service.
